Simrad EVO 3S 16” Upgrade on a Rayglass 2800
We recently carried out an electronics upgrade on a beautiful Rayglass 2800 at Tauranga Marina — a serious offshore boat built for adventure, now with an equally capable navigation system to match.
What We Installed:
-
Replaced a faulty Simrad EVO 2 16” with a new Simrad EVO 3S 16”
The boat’s original 16” Simrad NSS EVO 2 multifunction display had developed a fault with its internal sonar module, causing unreliable sonar performance. To fix the issue and upgrade the system at the same time, we removed the EVO 2 and installed the latest Simrad NSS EVO 3S 16” unit in its place.
The EVO 3S is a huge step forward in both power and capability, offering a faster processor, super-bright full HD display, and quicker, smoother operation. With improved sonar processing, faster chart redraws, and seamless system integration, it’s the perfect match for this Rayglass 2800.
Why This Upgrade Matters:
The Simrad EVO 3S delivers a big performance boost over the older EVO 2, especially with its enhanced sonar processing and networking capabilities. With the faulty internal sonar module removed, the owner now has a fully reliable, high-performance system that’s ready for offshore fishing and cruising.
It’s a great example of how upgrading to the latest gear can not only solve problems but also future proof your boat.
