Rayglass 2500 Electronics Upgrade in Tauranga, NZ

We recently completed a full marine electronics upgrade on a Rayglass 2500, purpose-built for offshore fishing, deep water performance, and reliable night operation.

If you’re upgrading a similar boat in NZ, this setup is a great example of what’s possible with the right gear and installation.

Helm Upgrade – Lowrance HDS Pro & Radar Setup

At the centre of this install is a Lowrance HDS Pro 16”, providing a large, high-resolution display for navigation, sonar, and radar.

We paired this with a Lowrance Halo20+ radar, giving excellent short and mid-range target tracking — ideal for offshore conditions around Tauranga and beyond.

To complete the helm layout, we designed and installed a custom CNC-cut black acrylic dash panel, allowing us to reposition switches and achieve a clean, factory-style finish.

👉 The result: a modern, uncluttered helm with everything exactly where it should be.

Offshore Sounder Setup – Airmar Transducers & S5100 Module

This boat is now equipped with a serious sonar system designed for NZ offshore fishing conditions.

The setup includes:

• Airmar SS175L (Low CHIRP) – excellent deep water performance
• Airmar SS175HW (High Wide CHIRP) – wide coverage for bait and game fish
• Through-hull installation with QME precision collars
• Lowrance S5100 sounder module running dual transducers
• Lowrance Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer on the transom

This combination gives the skipper both deep structure detail and wide water column coverage — ideal for deep dropping, workups, and game fishing.

Night Fishing & Underwater Lighting Upgrade

To make the boat fully capable after dark, we installed:

• SiOnyx night vision camera for low-light navigation
• Twin Hella Apelo RGB underwater lights
• Controlled via a Fusion RGB lighting system

This setup improves safety, visibility, and overall usability when fishing or travelling at night.
