Rayglass 2800 – Garmin GPSMAP 9013XSV & Dual Airmar Transducer Upgrade
East Coast Marine Electronics recently completed a major marine electronics upgrade aboard this Rayglass 2800 in Whangamatā, getting the boat ready for the upcoming summer game fishing season.
The existing Garmin GPSMAP 7012XSV system was removed and replaced with a new Garmin GPSMAP 9013XSV 13-inch multifunction display. The new display was carefully integrated into the existing dash, with a custom dash surround panel fabricated to achieve a clean, factory-style finish.
Dual Airmar Transducer Setup
A major part of this upgrade was the new dual-transducer sonar configuration, designed to provide excellent performance across different fishing depths and conditions.

The new sonar installation includes:
-
Airmar B175L through-hull transducer – Low-frequency sonar for deep-water fishing.
-
Airmar B175HW through-hull transducer – High Wide CHIRP sonar for shallow-water fishing and high-frequency game fishing.
-
QME precision transducer collars – Fitted to ensure the transducers are correctly integrated with the hull and maintain optimal water flow.
Having two dedicated Airmar transducers allows the customer to select the most suitable sonar frequency depending on the type of fishing and conditions.

Garmin System Integration & Configuration
The existing autopilot system was networked into the new Garmin GPSMAP installation, maintaining integration with the boat's existing electronics.
We also loaded Garmin Relief Shading charts to provide enhanced seabed detail and improved chart presentation.
To make switching between fishing setups quick and straightforward, we configured dedicated pinned sonar combinations using Garmin Anytime Sonar. Different sonar frequencies can be assigned to individual icons, giving the customer quick access to dedicated deep-water and top-water fishing configurations.
The result is a well-integrated Garmin electronics package, tailored specifically to the owner's fishing requirements.
