Latest Install: Simrad EVO3S 12” Upgrade with 1kW TM260, Active Imaging 3-in-1 & C-MAP Chart
At East Coast Marine Electronics, we love transforming older marine setups with modern, high-performance electronics — and this recent job on a Southernsport boat was a prime example.
✅ What We Replaced
Our customer was running an ageing Lowrance LCX-104 unit on their Southernsport, which had served well over the years but was definitely ready for an upgrade. It was time to bring this rig into the modern era with faster, clearer, and more capable technology.
✅ What We Installed
We swapped out the old display for a brand-new Simrad NSS EVO3S 12”, offering:
-
Full HD SolarMAX™ IPS display for crystal-clear viewing in all lighting conditions
-
Lightning-fast processor for smooth, responsive performance
-
Built-in CHIRP, StructureScan, and ForwardScan sonar compatibility
-
C-MAP®, Navionics®, and Simrad chart support
To complement the new sounder, we loaded a C-MAP chart card into the system, giving the customer detailed New Zealand mapping, depth contours, and navigation data — perfect for both fishing and cruising.
✅ Transducer Upgrades
To make sure the EVO3S was getting the best possible sonar returns, we removed the old transducer setup and replaced it with:
-
Airmar TM260 1kW Transducer: Well-known for its deepwater performance, providing strong target separation and reliable readings down to serious depths — ideal for offshore fishing missions.
-
Simrad Active Imaging 3-in-1 Transducer: This delivers stunning SideScan, DownScan, and CHIRP sonar images, giving incredible clarity for finding structure, bait, and fish in the shallows and mid-depths.
This dual-transducer setup gives the Southernsport owner versatile, high-quality sonar coverage from inshore to offshore.
✅ Final Result
Everything was professionally installed, tested, and set up for easy use. The combination of the new EVO3S screen, C-MAP charting, and upgraded transducers transformed this Southernsport’s electronics — the difference in clarity, speed, and usability compared to the old system was immediately obvious.
