Haswing GPS Trolling Motor Install on a Stabicraft 1550
We recently caught up with Ray Tait from Top Catch Tauranga to upgrade his Stabicraft 1550 with a Haswing Cayman GPS Spot Lock electric trolling motor. This install has taken his boat’s versatility to the next level, giving Ray precision control on the water — whether he’s fishing Tauranga Harbour or heading inland to jig the lakes for trout.
Custom Aluminium Mount by Fusion Fabrication
A big part of making this installation clean and reliable was the custom work done by Steve from Fusion Fabrication. Steve fabricated a solid custom aluminium mounting base for the bow of the Stabicraft 1550, perfectly shaped and welded to suit the boat’s layout. This gave us a strong, level platform for the Haswing Cayman trolling motor and ensured a tidy, professional finish.

The Result
Ray was stoked with the final setup and is already putting it to work on both the Tauranga Harbour and the Rotorua Lakes.
