Furuno DFF1-UHD Sounder Module & TM275LHW Install on Senator Typhoon

We recently completed a serious sonar upgrade on a Senator Typhoon — a tough offshore fishing boat now armed with a premium dual-transducer setup for both game fishing and deepwater missions.

What We Installed:

• Furuno DFF1-UHD Sounder Module
  We installed a Furuno DFF1-UHD sounder module, delivering ultra high-definition CHIRP sonar performance. This black box provides excellent target separation, clarity, and reliable deep-water capability — perfect for serious offshore fishing.

• Airmar TM275LHW Transducer
  Paired with the DFF1-UHD, we added a TM275LHW transom-mount CHIRP transducer. Covering Low (42-65 kHz) and High Wide (150-250 kHz), it offers wide-angle shallow to mid-depth coverage and great detail.
  The High Wide beam is especially valuable for game fishing, offering a broad, detailed view of bait schools, pelagics, and upper-water activity.

• Existing 2kW Transducer with Furuno DFF-AMP Module
  This Senator Typhoon was already fitted with a powerful 2kW transducer, connected to a Furuno DFF-AMP high-power sounder module for serious deepwater fishing. This setup delivers excellent performance for detecting fish and structure at extreme depths.

• Integrated with Existing Furuno TZT3 Multifunction Display
  We seamlessly integrated the new DFF1-UHD and TM275LHW into the boat’s existing Furuno TZT3 MFD. This allows the skipper to manage both sounder modules and transducers from one intuitive, touchscreen interface — switching between shallow wide-beam CHIRP, deepwater 2kW sonar, and everything in between.

Why This Setup Works:

This package gives the Senator Typhoon a true all-round sonar system:

• The TM275LHW’s High Wide beam is ideal for game fishing, giving a broad, detailed view of bait schools and pelagics in the upper water columns.

• The Low CHIRP range on the TM275 and the existing 2kW transducer with DFF-AMP cover the deep drop-offs, reef edges, and offshore canyons.

• The integration with the Furuno TZT3 makes it easy to control and view everything in one place, with crystal-clear CHIRP sonar, charts, and radar side by side.
