Minn Kota Instinct Quest 87” Install on Everyman 635

We recently completed a high-end trolling motor upgrade on this Everyman 635 — a setup designed to give the owner serious boat control whether fishing inshore or heading out wide.

The hero of the install is the Minn Kota Instinct Quest 87”. This is Minn Kota’s top-tier electric motor, offering advanced GPS features like Spot-Lock, AutoPilot, and route tracking for hands-free precision fishing. The extra-long shaft provides reliable performance even in rougher seas and deeper bow heights.

To make everything fit perfectly, Fusion Fabrication created a custom mount plate and modified the bow rails — a super clean result that integrates seamlessly with the boat’s lines. We mounted the motor on a quick-release bracket and installed a Minn Kota plug, making it easy to remove the motor when not in use.

Power comes from a 36V NZ Lithium battery, giving the owner plenty of run time and a lightweight power solution that keeps overall boat weight down.

Why the 87” Shaft?

The customer plans to upgrade to a larger boat in the future — so sizing up now makes the investment future-proof and more versatile long-term.
